KP Government Hiring Medical Officers in Four Districts

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced the recruitment of medical officers on a fixed salary basis to address the critical shortage of healthcare professionals in four districts, including Mardan.
To ensure a transparent hiring process, a Grievance Redressal Committee has been formed at the district level. This committee will be chaired by the Special Secretary of Health and will also include the Additional Secretary Health, Director HRM, and Section Officer E-2.
The committee will handle written complaints submitted by candidates regarding the recruitment process in Mardan, Upper Dir, Batkhela, and Haripur. Candidates must submit their complaints with valid supporting documents by August 10. Complaints received after the deadline will not be considered.
The Health Department reiterated its commitment to a fair and merit-based selection process, aiming to rebuild the trust of candidates and the general public.
The doctor shortage has been a longstanding issue in the province. In an earlier phase, the department began hiring medical officers and specialists on a contract basis to strengthen services in District Headquarters Hospitals (DHQs).
Currently, 115 medical officers and 51 consultants are being deployed across various hospitals to activate specialized units and improve healthcare delivery.
According to the Health Advisor, who approved the hiring, this initiative will provide job opportunities to doctors while allowing patients to receive treatment close to home. Notably, preference will be given to local candidates, and appointments will be made hospital-specific to avoid unnecessary transfers.
