Punjab Extends Summer Vacation for Schools Until August 31

In a much-awaited decision, the Punjab School Education Department has officially extended the summer break for all public and private schools across the province. The new notification confirms that educational institutions will remain closed from August 14 to August 31, with schools set to reopen on Monday, September 1, 2025.
The extension, approved by the Competent Authority, builds on the department’s earlier announcement issued in May. This move applies to all institutions falling under the jurisdiction of the School Education Department, ensuring that the updated schedule is implemented across all districts of Punjab.
The department has directed all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of District Education Authorities (DEAs) to strictly enforce the new schedule and ensure smooth compliance at the school level.

Confusion Cleared After Fake Notification
This latest update comes after a wave of confusion caused by the circulation of a fake notification on social media, falsely claiming an extension in holidays. At that time, the School Education Department had officially denied those reports, clarifying that no such decision had been taken and that any valid updates would only be shared through official channels.
Now, with the release of this verified notification, all doubts have been cleared. The new circular confirms that the summer vacation will be extended until the end of August, providing both students and teachers with additional time off amid ongoing weather conditions and administrative considerations.
Schools to Resume on September 1
All schools in Punjab are expected to resume regular academic activities from September 1, with full attendance and adherence to the revised academic calendar. Parents, students, and school administrations are advised to stay informed through official announcements and prepare accordingly for the reopening.
